Qiming Yuan

As a native Chinese, Professor Qiming Yuan is the head of the Department of Music Theory in Cologne University of Music, Germany, and the head of the Department of Composition and Conducting in Basel Conservatory, Switzerland.

Born in Shanghai in a family of musicians, he learned the violin, piano, and trombone when he was a child. Professor Yuan got different degrees of composition, conducting and music theory at the Berlin University of the Arts (The Universität der Künste Berlin).

 

In addition to artistic activities, he publishes numerous essays and gives lectures in Europe and Asia.
